MURFREESBORO — A special reading conference for area educators on "Common
Core State Standards: What They Mean for the K-12 Struggling Reader" is
set for Saturday, Aug. 24, inside MTSU's Business and Aerospace Building.
Sponsored
by the Tennessee Center for the Study and Treatment of Dyslexia on the MTSU
campus, the daylong conference focuses on early and intensive help for students
to overcome their reading problems.
Registration,
which is $40 per person and includes breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack,
must be completed by Thursday, Aug. 15.
Conference
keynote speaker Dr. Sharon Vaughn is the executive director of the Meadows
Center for Preventing Educational Risk, an organized research unit at the
University of Texas at Austin. She also is the author of more than 15 books and
150 research articles.
