MURFREESBORO — Two
MTSU associate professors have captured international honors for their
examination of electronic library collections.
Suzanne Mangrum and Mary Ellen Pozzebon were recognized by
the Emerald Literati Network in the organization’s 2013 Awards for Excellence.
Mangrum and Pozzebon’s article, “Use of collection
development policies in electronic resource management,” was designated by the
judges as “highly commended.”
The paper assesses the need for libraries to modernize their
standards to facilitate the transition of library materials to digital formats.
Mangrum is the collection development and assessment
librarian, and Pozzebon is the electronic resources librarian at MTSU’s James
E. Walker Library.
Pozzebon’s work includes managing access, licensing and
assessment of electronic resources.
Mangrum’s job includes building the library collection for
new programs and providing library information for external reviews.
Emerald Group Publishing, Ltd., the United Kingdom-based
sponsor of the awards, “links research and practice to the benefit of society,”
according to www.emeraldinsight.com.
The company manages a portfolio of more than 290 journals
and more than 2,000 books and book series volumes.
