[010] Registration underway for Sept. 21 math-science event for girls at MTSU

MURFREESBORO — Registration is underway for girls to attend the 2013 MTSU Expanding Your Horizons in Science and Mathematics conference. The 17^th annual event will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, on campus.

The registration fee is $15. The deadline to register is Monday, Sept. 2. Here is the online path to registration:

EYH, a hands-on math and science event, helps girls investigate math and science careers, EYH and WISTEM (Women in STEM) Center director Judith Iriarte-Gross said, adding that it gives them opportunities to talk with women in science and attend this type of conference with other girls. STEM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Up to 275 middle school girls and up to 75 high school girls are welcome to attend the event, Iriarte-Gross said.
