MURFREESBORO — MTSU
dancers will welcome guest artists and a Nashville troupe to campus Nov. 19-21
for the Fall Dance Concert, “Collage, A Collection of Dances,” to showcase
their talent and training in the MTSU Dance Theatre’s 12th anniversary season.
Performances are set
at 7:30 each evening in MTSU’s Tucker Theatre.
Tickets for the
MTSU Arts production, sponsored by Ascend Federal Credit Union, are
$10 for adults and $5 for K-12 students and MTSU staff. MTSU students will be
admitted free with a valid student ID.
Assistant professor Marsha Barsky, director of MTSU’s dance program in
the Department of Theatre and Dance, said this fall’s event will highlight
original choreography from MTSU students and faculty members.
“Collage” also will feature performances by visiting guest artists Amanda
K. Miller and Lindsay Pierce and a special presentation on Saturday, Nov. 21 from
the Nashville-based “Fall Dance.”
“Fall Dance incorporates aerial dance and traditional dance elements to
create innovative, exciting and unexpected dances,” Barsky explained. “We would
love for you to join us for an enthralling evening of dance.”
Tickets may be purchased online at http://www.mtsu.edu/mtsuarts
or at the door one hour before each performance. A searchable campus map with parking details is
available at http://tinyurl.com/MTSUParking2015-16.
“The MTSU Dance Theatre provides students with exciting opportunities to
develop professionally-oriented dance training,” Barsky said, noting the
group’s regular performances on campus as well as in national and international
venues over the years.
“By providing high-quality performances to MTSU and local audiences, the
MTSU Dance Theatre aims to enrich the campus and local communities’ awareness
and appreciation of concert dance by presenting work that is both entertaining
and thought-provoking.”
