Employer attendance largest since
pre-recession, organizers say
MURFREESBORO — MTSU
students and alumni can again pursue promising job, internship and graduate
school opportunities at the 33rd annual MTSU Fall Career Fair set for Thursday,
Oct. 29, at Murphy Center.
Hosted by the Career
Development Center at MTSU, the Fall Career Fair is the university’s largest
on-campus fair of the year. This year’s fair, which will run from 1 to 4 p.m.
Oct. 29, is the largest since pre-recession 2007. Admission is free and open to
all MTSU students and alumni.
Organizers hope to draw
more than 1,000 student and alumni participants, who are asked to dress in
business attire and bring multiple copies of their resumes to give to employers
while at the fair.
Over 138 employers and
graduate/professional schools will be set up around the indoor track level at
Murphy Center. Participating employers will be looking to hire for professional
entry-level positions and/or career-related internships while graduate and
professional schools will be recruiting for their academic programs.
“We are excited about
returning to the Murphy Center after a one-year absence due to renovations there,”
said Bill Fletcher, director of the Career Development Center.
Fletcher added that
Murphy Center is able to accommodate more employers than last year’s location
in the Student Union, and the extra space is needed for this year’s record
attendance. Attendees are encouraged to review and research the list of
employers and graduate schools on the Career Center’s website at www.mtsu.edu/career.
Fair sponsors include
Enterprise-Rent-A-Car, UBS Financial Services and EFC Systems.
The MTSU Career Development
Center is a centralized comprehensive center that serves all students in each
of the university’s nine colleges. Students may come to the center’s office in
KUC Room 328 for walk-in advising, resume critique and more. Scheduled
appointments are also available with career advisers. Alumni services are
outlined on the center’s website.
