MURFREESBORO — The
annual “Bleed Blue” blood drive is the subject of the upcoming “MTSU On the
Record” radio program.
Host Gina Logue’s interview with Patricia Wright of the
American Red Cross in Rutherford County and Ray Wiley, associate director of
campus recreation, will air from 5:30 to 6 p.m. today, Monday, Sept. 28, and
from 8 to 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 4 on WMOT-FM (89.5 and http://www.wmot.org).
Donors are invited to give blood between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 5, through Wednesday, Oct. 7 at the MTSU Campus Recreation Center.
A searchable campus map is available at http://tinyurl.com/MTSU
Parking2015-16. All community donors will have free parking.
“We’re probably running 20 to 25 blood drives a month in and
around the county,” said Wright. “However, most of them have a blood drive goal
of collecting, you know, maybe between 20 and 30 pints of blood depending on
who we’re working with that day. The goal here for the MTSU blood drive is to
see over 700 people.”
“Historically speaking, our students have always stepped up
when they know there’s a need,” said Wiley. “Every year, for this blood drive,
it’s amazing just how many students come and support.”
MTSU has won four of the six competitions with WKU. The
winner of this year’s drives will be announced Saturday, Oct. 10, at WKU’s
Smith Stadium in Bowling, Green, Kentucky, during the football game between the
Blue Raiders and the Hilltoppers.
