MURFREESBORO — If
you have a passion for anything purple, some MTSU students will be happy to help
you.
The student chapter of the American Society of Interior
Designers/International Interior Design Association will present “Purple
Passion” Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Oaklands Mansion, 901 N. Maney Ave. in
Murfreesboro.
Tickets are $20 each or $5 for students. Tickets can be
pre-purchased in the museum gift shop or by calling Oaklands at 615-893-0022.
Seating is limited and reservations are requested. A reception with light
refreshments will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. The speaker, Nicole Ruffing, will
begin her address at 6 p.m.
Ruffing, the Atlanta-area designer account executive for
Sherwin-Williams, will speak about the history and use of the color purple in
interiors. Her job is to develop relationships with residential architects and
designers by providing product and color specification support.
Following Ruffing’s address, attendees are invited to tour
the “Wedding Dresses through the Decades” exhibit in the mansion. The annual
display of bridal gowns blends women’s history, fashion history, cultural
history and community history into a timeless chronicle of beauty and style.
The exhibit is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through
Saturday and from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sundays through March 4. It is sponsored in
part by the MTSU Department of Human Sciences.
