MURFREESBORO — Murfreesboro’s
inaugural Festival of Chinese Arts is the topic of the next “MTSU On the
Record” radio program.
Host Gina Logue’s interview with Mei Han, director of MTSU’s
Center for Chinese Music and Culture, will air from 9:30 to 10 p.m. Tuesday,
Feb. 6, and from 6 to 6:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, on WMOT-FM Roots Radio 89.5
and www.wmot.org.
The center, along with MTSU’s Confucius Institute, is
co-sponsoring the two-month series of festivities at various locations, which
include musical concerts, art displays, calligraphy workshops and a dragon
dance. All events are free and open to the public.
“What I have had in mind (for the festival) is what is our
center’s mission, which is to serve the university teaching, serve the local
community and bring the best of Chinese arts to the community,” Han said.
Most of the festival takes place during the “Year of the
Dog,” which begins Friday, Feb. 16, on the Chinese zodiac. For specific
information on dates, times and locations of festival events, go to http://www.mtsu.edu/chinesemusic/events.php.
