MURFREESBORO — DigiGirlz
Day is scheduled for Saturday, March 1, in Franklin, Tenn., and has a Tuesday,
Feb. 25, deadline for high school girls to register.
An event for up to 100 girls interested in a high-tech or
STEM (science, technology, engineering or mathematics) careers, DigiGirlz Day
is free and will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Nissan North America
Office, One Nissan Way, in Franklin.

Students who attend will learn about high-tech career
choices, hear from senior executive speakers, tour technology laboratories and
participate in hands-on activities.
Microsoft and Nissan are sponsoring the event. MTSU
professor Judith Iriarte-Gross, who serves as director of the Women in STEM
Center, is a member of the organizing committee. Melinda Thomas in admissions
and Janet Kelly in the College of Graduate Studies plan to attend and will
provide participants with information about their respective departments.
