MURFREESBORO — Motorists at MTSU should be aware
of temporary road closures and traffic delays on and around campus this
Saturday morning, Oct. 12, during the Murfreesboro Half Marathon.
The annual
event, also known as "The Middle Half," is expected to draw 3,000
runners as well as their supporters and associated race personnel to campus
from before 7 a.m. until around 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
The race
begins and ends at the Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium on the north side
of the MTSU campus, looping through downtown Murfreesboro and along East Main
Street, Mercury and Rutherford Boulevards and Old Lascassas Pike. A complete
race route map is available at http://www.themiddlehalf.com/the-event/course.
Motorists
can expect delays at all MTSU campus entrances during race time. Access to
Greenland Drive, Champion Way, Rutherford Boulevard and East Main Street from
campus also may be affected throughout the event, organizers say.
Road
closures on the MTSU campus include:
· Faulkinberry Drive, closed from
6:50 to 7:15 a.m. Saturday.
· MTSU Boulevard, closed from 7:30 to
10:30 a.m.
· Alumni Drive, closed until the race
ends around 10:30 a.m.
Organizers
add that the intersection of Middle Tennessee Boulevard and Greenland Drive
will be closed when the race begins but should reopen around 7:15 a.m.
Signs are
already up along the entire Middle Half route, including the MTSU portions, to
alert motorists for potential closures and delays.
