MURFREESBORO — The MTSU Police Department will conduct sobriety roadside-safety
checkpoints during the early morning hours of Saturday, Oct. 12, on Alumni
Drive at Homecoming Circle on the MTSU campus.
Campus officers will evaluate drivers for signs of alcohol or drug
impairment at the checkpoints. Officers will target those who operate a vehicle
while impaired, and they'll also take action on any other violations observed
while ensuring the protection of all motorists.
The MTSU Police Department recognizes that sobriety checkpoints
are highly visible and effective tools in the battle against impaired driving.
Department officials also note that impaired driving is a serious crime that
kills more than 16,000 people and injuries 305,000 others every year in the
United States.
