MURFREESBORO — As
the MTSU spring semester winds down, a university partnership will add a splash
of fun to the rigors of studying.
Simply Summer, MTSU Student Programming & Activities,
Campus Recreation, Housing and Residential Life and Health Services are
sponsoring four events that should help students relax a little and momentarily
take their minds off writing papers and any tests or exams they will be taking.
As a bonus, students may win prizes will be awarded at all
events.
Events that will be held from now through May 2 will
include:
• MT After Dark, tonight from midnight to 2:30 a.m. Friday,
April 12, features free movies at Premiere 6, 810 Northwest Broad St., in
Murfreesboro. Doors will open at 11 p.m. Students can choose one theater and
film to attend. A valid MTSU ID is required for entry. A shuttle service will
be provided from MTSU. Visit mtsu.edu/events
for pick-up times and location;
• Summer Bash concert on the Keathley University Center
Knoll, 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, April 12, featuring Humming House with special guest
Parker Deal;
• Midnight Play Night at Go USA Funpark, 2270 Armory Dr.,
Murfreesboro. From 10 p.m. Thursday, April 25, until 2 a.m. Friday, April 26,
students play for free in all the Go USA activities: mini golf, go-karts,
batting cages, driving range and arcade games; and
• Midnight Breakfast, which will be held starting at 10 p.m.
Thursday, May 2, at McCallie Dining Hall. The two-hour event ends at midnight.
May 2 is study day; finals begin Friday, May 3.
University Summer Sessions representatives will be promoting
the opportunity for students to attend any of the summer terms (full term from
May 20-Aug. 16; May 20-June 7; June 10-July 12; July 15-Aug. 16; June 10-Aug.
16 and the Regent’s Online Degree Program term from June 3 to Aug. 9).
“We thought it would be a good time to talk about summer
school and have a good environment,” said David Foster, director of marketing
for the University College.
