MURFREESBORO — MTSU
will sponsor a free six-session workshop series to help diabetics deal with their
illness.
The next series of “Yes I Can” Diabetes Self-Management Workshops
is slated for 1:30 to 4 p.m. on Fridays from April 5 to May 10 at the Smyrna
Library, 400 Enon Springs Road in Smyrna.
An additional workshop series will be scheduled later this
spring and will be announced in the near future.
“Yes I Can” is designed for diabetics and people with
pre-diabetes symptoms in Rutherford County and the surrounding Middle Tennessee
areas. Points of emphasis include healthy eating, exercise, preventing
complications, medications, communication skills and more.
The Center for Health and Human Services at MTSU is
supervising the workshops, which are funded through a grant from the Tennessee
Department of Health.
The sessions are limited to 20 people each. Participants
must be 18 years of age or over. A doctor’s referral is not required to attend,
though pre-registration is required for both participants and caregivers or
support persons.
