[217] MTSU SGA's ‘Raiders Greetings’ spreads holiday cheer with card signing

With the holiday season is underway, MTSU's Student Government Association coordinated an effort this week allowing students to share personal well-wishes with a group of children who probably could use a little extra holiday cheer.
MTSU SGA set up a table dubbed "Raiders Greetings" filled with colorful markers and blank holiday cards in the lobby of the Student Union building Dec. 4-5.
SGA philanthropic coordinator Chloe Brandon encouraged the True Blue community to send a little love to children undergoing treatment at The Children's Hospital at TriStar Centennial located in Nashville, Tennessee, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
"It is the greatest time of the year and since we're so blessed and fortunate to be in school … we should take time to give back and wish those who are less fortunate than us a nice holiday season," she said.
Those who decided to stop by the table to create celebratory cards were also offered sweet treats like cupcakes and cookies before going on their way. MTSU SGA also designed a festive backdrop for everyone who sprinkled a little joy in a holiday greeting card.
"It's getting toward the holiday season and trying to give back is one of our biggest things, and what better way to do it than to give it to people who need it more than anybody else at this moment," said MTSU philanthropic committee member Kayo Beshir.
A small group of SGA members is set to travel to Nashville to hand deliver some cards and handmade coloring books during the week of final exams.
The organization will be donating 400 MTSU coloring books, 125 holiday cards, and 90 crayon boxes to The Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, also known as Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.
