[73] Teachers of Chinese language speak fluent collaboration at MTSU conference

MURFREESBORO — More than 70 Chinese language teachers will convene at MTSU when the university’s Confucius Institute hosts the Southeast Chinese Language Conference at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15.

 

With the University of Memphis Confucius Institute as a co-sponsor, the gathering will focus on curriculum development and teaching methodology.

 

At 9 a.m., Professor Kun Shi of the University of South Florida will deliver the keynote address on cross-cultural competency for Chinese-language teachers.

 

Dr. Shelley Thomas of the MTSU Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures will host workshops on the Total Physical Response methodology for teaching foreign languages.

 

In addition, two officials from the Chinese Embassy to the United States, Ms. Zhang Jin and Mr. Lieu Jiangyi, will deliver presentations.
