“Adult Beginning Chinese” and “Adult Advanced Chinese” will
take place from 9 to 11 a.m. “Adult Intermediate Chinese,” “Elementary Chinese
for Children,” and “Chinese for Children from Chinese-heritage Families” will
be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
“After School at the Confucius Institute: Chinese Language
and Culture” classes for children ages 6 to 12 will be conducted from 3:30 to 5
p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting Tuesday, Sept. 11.
This language- and culture-enrichment program will introduce
the Chinese language with a focus on basic conversation, entry-level vocabulary
and writing Chinese characters. Students will develop communication skills
through formal teaching and fun activities such as songs, crafts and games.
Tuition for all Chinese language courses is $120 for 12
two-hour sessions. Tuition for “After School at the Confucius Institute:
Chinese Language and Culture” is $240 for 24 two-hour sessions.
MTSU faculty and staff may receive a 50 percent discount in
tuition for adult Chinese language classes. MTSU students may attend these
classes for no charge.
Children and grandchildren of MTSU faculty and staff can
take “Elementary Chinese for Children” and “After School at the Confucius
Institute: Chinese Language and Culture” for 25 percent reduced tuition.
Upon request, the Confucius Institute will provide private Chinese
language tutoring with only one or two students per tutor at a rate of $15 per
hour. The day and time will be decided between students, parents and teachers.
All tuition is nonrefundable after the first two classes.
