COLUMBIA NATIVE BRUNSON SET TO STUDY IN CHINA
MTSU Political Science Major Will Study Mandarin This Semester


(MURFREESBORO)—Columbia, Tenn., native Cory Brunson recently was selected to study abroad in China at Hunan Normal University in Changsha from mid-February through August.
A junior majoring in political science, with an emphasis in international relations, at MTSU, Brunson will study Mandarin during the trip abroad.
To date, Brunson has received three scholarships: $4,000 from The Benjamin Gilman International Scholarship, funded by The U.S. Department of State; $2,500 from The Freeman Asia Award, funded by the United Nations; and $2,000 from the MTSU Study Abroad program.
Beginning in January 2010, Brunson also is slated to serve as an intern at the Tennessee State Capital for the 2010 Legislative session through a program with MTSU.
