[119] MTSU, True Blue Tour leave an impression on Clarksville teens


CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. —MTSUPresident Sidney A. McPheewas more than pleased with the impact the university left on dozens of Clarksville-area teenagers and their parents.

The Murfreesboro university resumed its fall 2018 True Blue Tourin 
Clarksville, and students from a number of area high schools — Northeast, Rossview, Northwest, West Creek, Clarksville High and Montgomery Central to name a few — came away captivated with programs and facilities.

On the True Blue Tour, MTSU recruits all across Tennessee and in Kentucky, Alabama and Georgia.

McPhee introduced Cheyenne Douthitt, 15, of Clarksville and a Montgomery Central sophomore, who was named a Top 100 Freshman by the university in 2017. Her father, Blake Douthitt, attended MTSU from 1985-87.

“I really like it,” said Douthitt, talking about MTSU. “The majors are well set. The buildings are up to date. It’s a beautiful campus. The faculty are outstanding. They have great resources and I like how they recruit all across the state.”

 Alexa Barfield, 16, a junior at Montgomery Central High School in Cunningham, Tennessee, andDecorius Simpkins, 17, a Northwest senior, won certificates for $2,000 awarded by McPhee. He is a track/cross country, tennis and wrestling athlete for Northwest.
