Middle Tennessee State University is again hosting the Wilson Collegiate Tennis Camps this summer and openings are available for the remaining sessions, says MTSU men’s tennis coach Jimmy Borendame.
Boys and girls ages 6 to 18 could choose from five weeklong sessions, with the first already underway this week, to learn the game and improve their skills.
Under the watchful eyes of some of the nation’s top college coaches, each camper will be introduced to personal instruction that also includes various facets of match play.
“As a coach it’s a huge teaching tool to know each participant’s name,” said Borendame. “Right away we have a connection, and I am giving them verbal recognition.”
Full-day camp fees are $370 per week; overnight camp fees (Session 3 only) are $655 per week, and lunch will be provided. Camp fees are $250 for a half day.

Borendame is running the first three sessions of the camps while an additional two sessions in July will be run by MTSU women’s tennis coach Charlie Ramsay.
“With these kids listening skills are huge, and they all have different personalities,” said Borendame. “I make it a big deal for each participant to absorb from each coach here.”
For Sessions 1, 2, 4 and 5, the full-day campers will meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday, and from 9 a.m. to noon for half-day campers. In Session 3 (overnight session) campers will check in at 2 p.m. on that Sunday and will start a full-day schedule from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday. Half-day campers will attend sessions from 9 a.m. to noon.
Highlights of the camp include:
· Five to six hours of tennis each day
· Comprehensive instructional program with daily teaching progressions
· Small instructional groups to ensure individual attention
· Safety prioritized on and off court
· A camp demo program with all the latest Wilson rackets
· A Great Wilson Raffle and prizes for all campers
· A Camp T-Shirt for all campers
