[335] MTSU provides free ‘eat this, not that’ advice, coaching from budding dieticians

MURFREESBORO — If you find the often conflicting information about proper nutrition confusing, MTSU is offering an opportunity to clear up the confusion.

Senior dietetic students will provide individualized nutrition evaluations and coaching at no charge in the Cason-Kennedy Nursing Building on campus. These students are under the supervision of registered dietician Elizabeth Ann Smith, an assistant professor of nutrition and food science.

Multiple one-hour sessions will be held at 4:45 p.m. and at 6 p.m. on four consecutive Thursdays — March 29, April 5, April 12 and April 19. March 29 already is completely booked. A few openings are available on April 5 with more available on April 12 and 19.

Smith said she will obtain parking passes for any non-MTSU personnel who make appointments.A printable campus parking map is available at http://tinyurl.com/MTSUParkingMap

Smith, who teaches a class titled “Coaching and Counseling,” said she also will take the entire class to the Smyrna Trinity Christian Church, 1429 Lee Victory Parkway in Smyrna, because so many congregants expressed interest.

“We are very excited for this real-life, hands-on opportunity,” Smith said. “The senior dietetic students are really great students and will do a wonderful job working with the participants.”
