MURFREESBORO — A
fun-filled night of diversity and entertainment is in store for parents and
students alike during “Asian Culture Night.”
The celebration is slated for 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 11,
at Black Fox Elementary School, 1753 S. Rutherford Blvd. in Murfreesboro. This
event is free and open to the public.
MTSU’s Saudi Student Association and Confucius Institute, as
well as the Nashville Cultural Club Dancers and others, will provide lively
performances that highlight the artistry and history of Asian cultures in the
area.
“This great event honors the diversity in our community,”
said Black Fox Elementary School Principal Joe Thompson. “Black Fox is proud to
host this event each year.”
The event is sponsored by Murfreesboro City Schools and the
Confucius Institute at MTSU. The institute strives to enhance the understanding
of Chinese culture and to be a resource center for Chinese language, history,
contemporary society and culture. It also facilitates engagement with China and
creates opportunities for exchange and collaboration between communities in
Tennessee and China.
