[083] ‘The Places Called Home’ beckons MTSU Writers Corps in Sept. 11 reading

MURFREESBORO — The members of MTSU’s Writers Corps will share their writings with the public in a special Sept. 11 event.

Participants in the creative writing program for military veterans and their families will read a collection of their works titled “The Places Called Home” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at Reveille Joe’s, 113 N. Maple St. in Murfreesboro.

“Many of the pieces that will be featured were composed during a summer writing retreat held on a Middle Tennessee farm in which members of the group wrote literary pieces that used landscape and nature as a catalyst for their memories and thoughts,” said Matthew Brown, lecturer in the MTSU Department of English and founder of Writers Corps.

The reading is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Brown at matthew.brown@mtsu.edu.
