MURFREESBORO — The
contributions of nonprofit organizations to the Nashville area economy are in
the spotlight on the next edition of the “MTSU On the Record” radio program.
Host Gina Logue’s interview with Dr. Murat Arik, associate
director of MTSU’s Business and Economic Research Center, will air from 5:30 to
6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, and from 8 to 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, on WMOT-FM
(89.5 and http://www.wmot.org).
Arik’s study was prepared for the Nashville-based Center for
Nonprofit Management, which states at http://www.cnm.org
that its mission is “to create and sustain nonprofit excellence.”
The study reports that the nonprofit sector lures in $2.7
billion from outside the Nashville Metropolitan Statistical Area.
When stacked up against nonprofit sectors in metropolitan
areas of comparable size, “Nashville is third among 10 MSAs … and that, in fact
is a very good ranking. … Raleigh, N.C., and Indianapolis, Ind., are at the
top.”
The entire study may be viewed at http://tinyurl.com/krpvwrz.
