[343] MTSU names four finalists for mass communication dean post

MURFREESBORO — Four finalists have been tapped by MTSU as part of its search for the next dean of the College of Mass Communication, Provost Brad Bartel announced Thursday.

The candidates invited to the campus for interviews are:
       John F. Lansing, president of Scripps Networks, will visit March 18-19.
       Karen Magnuson, editor and vice president of the Rochester (N.Y) Democrat and Chronicle and the Democrat and Chronicle Media Group, will visit March 28-29.
       Ken Paulson, president and CEO of the Freedom Forum's First Amendment Center at Vanderbilt University and in Washington, D.C., will visit March 25-26.
       Scott A. Shamp, director of the New Media Institute at the University of Georgia, will visit April 1-2.

Roy Moore, dean of the college since 2008, will step down as dean on June 30. He will remain with the college as a professor.
