MTSU PROFESSOR DISCUSSES MALAYSIA, ARAB SPRING ON WMOT-FM
Dr. Sean Foley Addresses Islam in Modern World in Southeast Asia, Middle East

MURFREESBORO—Dr. Sean Foley, associate professor of history at MTSU, will discuss his 15-month research trip to Malaysia and other parts of Southeast Asia on “MTSU on the Record” with host Gina Logue at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 16, and 8 a.m. Sunday, July 22, on WMOT-FM (89.5 and wmot.org).

Supported by his third grant from the U.S. Department of State’s Fulbright Program, Foley studied at International Islamic University in Kuala Lumpur and made presentations in other nations in the region.

In the interview, Foley also will analyze recent events in Middle East countries affected by the so-called “Arab Spring,” including the Egyptian election, the Libyan election, and the continuing violence in Syria as pressure mounts on President Bashir al-Assad.
