LIPSCOMB MUSIC TRIO WILL PLAY FREE RECITAL AT MTSU SEPT. 13

(MURFREESBORO)—Lipscomb University faculty members Carolyn Treybig (flute), Daniel Lochrie (clarinet) and Jerome Reed (piano) will give a free concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13 in the Hinton Music hall of the Wright Music Building at MTSU.
"(This) will be a program of all French-related music,” said Deanna Little, MTSU flute professor. "All of flute repertoire are works that were dedicated to professors at the Paris Conservatory and the clarinet repertoire includes pieces by composers that studied at the Paris Conservatory."
The concert will primarily feature flute and piano duets or clarinet and piano duets, with the last work being a trio. The musicians will perform Sonatine pour clarinette en La et piano by Arthur Honnegger, Joueurs de Flûte by Albert Roussel, Arlequin by Louis Cahuzaz, Aulos (In memoriam Claude Debussy) by Ivana Loudová, Sonatine for flute and piano by Pierre Sancan, Carnival of Venice by Paul Jeanjean, Nocturne by Georges Barrére and Sonatine en trio by Florent Schmitt.
"Although all of the pieces are from a condensed period in history they are all quite diverse," Little noted. …"This will be a lovely afternoon of chamber music for winds and piano," Little remarked.
The Sept. 13 concert is free and open to the public. For more information, please visit the calendar of events at www.mtsumusic.com or call 615-898-2493.
