[094] Interior designer Lori Bell caps day of wellness, health at MTSU Sept. 26

MURFREESBORO — A specialist in turning your environment into one that promotes good feelings will share her expertise on a day of MTSU-sponsored health and wellness activities.

Lori Bell, a 1992 MTSU alumna who applies her understanding of color theory to interior design, will speak at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, in Maney Hall at Oaklands Mansion, 901 N. Maney Ave. in Murfreesboro. A reception beginning at 5 p.m. will precede the presentation.

Using her understanding of color theory, Bell strives to create interiors that facilitate physical, emotional and spiritual healing by evoking specific emotions. She is a senior interior designer with the firm EOA Architects in Nashville and has experience in corporate, educational, hospitality, health care, multifamily, religious and residential design styles.

Prior to Bell’s lecture, the College of Behavioral and Health Sciences will host the MT Engage Self-care and Well-being Fair from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on campus. With the theme of Professionals Taking Care, the fair will draw on all departments within the college to provide information on how to avoid the burnout and compassion fatigue experienced by people in the helping professions.

In addition, the fair will emphasize healthy ways to cope with competing priorities, sources of stress and work-life balance. Topics will include sleep, nutrition, mindfulness and meditation, massages, self-care hobbies and activities, yoga and physical exercise.

A printable campus parking map is available at http://tinyurl.com/MTSUParkingMap. Off-campus visitors attending daytime events should obtain a special one-day permit from MTSU’s Office of Parking and Transportation at http://www.mtsu.edu/parking/visit.php.

Lori Bell’s lecture and the self-care and well-being fair are free and open to the public. Bell’s lecture is presented by the MTSU Department of Human Sciences and the MTSU student chapter of ASID/IIDA.
