MURFREESBORO — The MTSU community will have an
opportunity soon to learn more about the dark consequences of unprotected sex.
The Department of Health and Human Performance will sponsor
the 15th annual Tunnel of Love from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday,
Sept. 13, in the Student Union Ballroom. A printable campus parking map is
available at http://tinyurl.com/MTSUParkingMap.
“This event informs students about how sexually transmitted infections
are spread and how they can protect themselves,” said Casie Higginbotham, a
lecturer in the department. “There will be many community agencies on site
providing additional support and information.”
Free HIV testing will be available for students, faculty and staff in
Room 210 of the Student Union. The test requires a mouth swab. Interested
persons should refrain from eating, drinking or smoking 30 minutes prior to
being tested.
Participating organizations include the Tennessee Department of Health;
the Rutherford County Health Department; Nashville Cares; Agape Adoption
Services; Planned Parenthood of Middle Tennessee; Portico; Sexual Assault
Center; MTSU Health Services; and the MTSU Raider Health Corps.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact
Higginbotham at 615-904-8274 or casie.higginbotham@mtsu.edu.
