MURFREESBORO — Eight
bands formed over the course of a week’s worth of hard work and musical fun
will display their talents in the culmination of the 2016 Southern Girls Rock
Camp.
The camp’s culmination, the showcase concert, is slated for
2 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at MTSU’s Wright Music Hall. A printable parking map
is available at http://tinyurl.com/MTSUParkingMap.
More than 50 budding female musicians from ages 10 to 17 have spent the
past week collaborating on instrumentation, composing, screen printing and
issue discussion, as well as interaction with professional acts like Sallow, Wu
Fei, Sarabeth Taite and Nightblonde.
A $10 donation is requested but not required for admission to the concert.
Prizes available to the audience through a silent auction will include a drum
kit, a Fender guitar and other musical instruments, as well as gift
certificates from several vendors.
For more information, contact Sarah Bandy, director of the
camp and its parent nonprofit organization, Youth Empowerment through Arts and
Humanities, at director@yeahrocks.org or
