Klumpe Presents Nov. 6 MTSU Star Party Lecture
(MURFREESBORO) — Dr. Eric Klumpe will discuss “400 Years after Galileo: How Our View of the Universe Changed” during the Friday, Nov. 6, Star Party that will be held in Wiser-Patten Science Hall Room 102. The event will start at 6:30 p.m.
“I will define our ‘view’ as both a physical view (sizes and scales of the
universe) and a philosophical view (Earth-centered, sun-centered, man-centered, etc.,” Klumpe, an associate professor in the physics and astronomy department, said. “I will then map out how science has progressed in both the physical and philosophical views in the last 400 years.”
After Klumpe’s talk and, weather permitting, Star Party attendees will go outside for a telescope viewing.
The event is open and free to the public and MTSU community. Free parking is available after 4:30 p.m. behind Wiser-Patten.
Directions to parking and the event site: At the intersection of Baird Lane and Main Street, take North Baird Lane to the MTSU campus. Turn right at stop sign onto Blue Raider Drive. Turn left onto Friendship Street. Continue past entrances to first set of parking lots. At curve in road, turn left into parking lot. Wiser-Patten is the second building at the northwest corner of the parking lot. Please park only in areas designated for parking. Handicap parking requires a valid state permit.
