ETHICS LAWS TO BE MAJOR TOPIC OF ACCOUNTING ALUMNI APPRECIATION DAY AT MTSU MAY 2

MURFREESBORO—The 17th annual Accounting Alumni Appreciation Day at Middle Tennessee State University will be held Friday, May 2, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., in the State Farm Lecture Hall of the Business and Aerospace Building.
The event is targeted to those interested in accounting, auditing, taxation, and computer training. The fee will be $75 for MTSU alumni and $100 for all others, including non-MTSU alumni. Net proceeds will be earmarked for accounting scholarships. Lunch will be provided.
Participants will earn eight hours of CPE credit and have the opportunity to visit with alumni and former professors and see how the campus configuration is changing.
Bruce Androphy, executive director of the Tennessee Ethics Commission, will open the conference with a session on Tennessee ethics laws.
MTSU’s Dr. Larry Farmer, accounting professor, will present a FASB update, followed by colleague Dr. Kevin James, associate professor of accounting, who will address Tennessee accounting ethics. Dr. James E. Burton, business dean, also will lead a session on ethics rules.
Additional break-out sessions and leaders will include:
-Rick Murray, executive vice president and CFO, Commerce Union Bank—Blu Ray, HD-DVD & Betamax;
-Beth Howard, MTSU assistant professor of accounting—tax update;
-Dr. Paula Thomas, MTSU professor of accounting—AICPA update;
-Dr. Jill Austin, MTSU chair of management and marketing—business ethics;
-Dr. Jeannie Harrington, MTSU associate professor of accounting—International Accounting Standards Board;
-Pat Wall, MTSU assistant professor of accounting, and Dr. Lara Daniel, MTSU professor of accounting—Employment Law update;
-Tammy Bahmanziari, MTSU assistant professor of accounting—XBRL; and
- Drs. Dwayne McSwain, MTSU assistant professor of accounting, and G. Robert Smith, MTSU associate professor of accounting—GASB update.
