(MURFREESBORO)—In honor of Women’s History Month, The Women’s Health Panel, a public presentation featuring three MTSU School of Nursing faculty members, will be held Wednesday, March 19, from 1 to 2 p.m. in Room 121 of MTSU’s Cason-Kennedy Nursing Building.
The free presentation is open to anyone on campus and in the local community who is interested in women’s health, said Dr. Suzanne Prevost, nursing professor and holder of the National HealthCare Chair of Excellence in Nursing at the university.
“Many women tend to be more health-conscious in the spring,” Prevost said. “The presenters hope to offer health promotion tips for women of all ages.”
Dr. Leigh Ann McInnis’s presentation, “Feeling Good? Looking Better?”, will focus on the implications of cosmetic treatments such as Botox, Restylane, laser hair removal, implants and liposuction/liposelection.
“Cancer: Are You at Risk?”, a presentation by Dr. Lita Warise, will cover common cancers in women and the factors that increase risk for each of these, such as diet, exercise, family history and environmental exposure.
Lastly, Prevost’s presentation “Women and Pain: Where It Hurts and What You Can Do,” will address common pain syndromes experienced by women, including headaches, abdominal pain, chest pain and arthritis.
“The presentations will emphasize the gender differences and how women’s bodies are unique in relation to each of these health issues,” Prevost said.
Healthy refreshments will be served.
