Aug. 25 Pigskin Pre-Game to jumpstart season, scholarships

MURFREESBORO — Interest in the 2012 Blue Raider football season will be escalating when fans gather for this year’s MTSU Rutherford County Alumni Pigskin Pre-Game scholarship fundraiser.

The celebration will be held on Saturday, Aug. 25, from 6:30 until 10 p.m., to help kick off the season while helping students pay for college.

It will be held at 2743 Twin Oak Drive in Murfreesboro (http://goo.gl/maps/cxHxi).

The location is at Twin Oak Ranch, which serves as the home of the annual Border Collie/Sheep Herding Trial, and is just off Lascassas Pike.

“All proceeds of this event benefit the Alumni Legacy Scholarship, which is a scholarship awarded to children or grandchildren of MTSU alumni,” said Paul Wydra, MTSU Office of Alumni Relations assistant director. “We also tie it in to a kickoff for another great Blue Raider football season.”

“Great food, live entertainment and a great group of people,” Wydra added. “We look forward to hosting this event every year.”

Tickets for the event will be $35 per person. You must pre-pay and RSVP by Wednesday, Aug. 22, to secure your ticket.  The ticket price includes food, an assortment of beverages and entertainment.

Parking will be available on site. The event will be held rain or shine.

The Blue Raiders’ first game and home opener in Floyd Stadium will be Thursday, Aug. 30, against McNeese State. Kickoff is 6:30 p.m. CDT.
