[458] MTSU Spring Commencement Saturday Will Be Available Via Webcast

MTSU SPRING COMMENCEMENT SATURDAY WILL BE AVAILABLE VIA WEBCAST
MURFREESBORO—More than 2,100 degree candidates are expected to graduate during MTSU’s 99th spring commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 8.

MTSU will again feature dual ceremonies and dual speakers beginning at 9 a.m. and
1 p.m. in Murphy Center. The ceremonies will be available live by webcast by going to the university home page at www.mtsu.edu and clicking on Spring Commencement at the top, and then “Learn More” in the lower right corner of the window. That will take you to the MTSU News and Public Affairs page, where you should scroll down and click on “Streaming video of commencement.” Follow the directions that are posted. Please note the software that is needed to access the webcast. Both webcasts will go live 15 minutes prior to the start of each ceremony.

Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett will serve as the guest speaker for the 9 a.m. commencement ceremony. MTSU also will recognize four Distinguished Alumni during the morning ceremony. They are:

• Lauren Gillespie Agee (B.S., ’01), winner of the 2009–10 Young Alumni Achievement Award;
• David B. Mitchell (B.S., ’73), winner of the Professional Achievement Award;
• Tom D. Vance (B.B.A., ’76), winner of the Service to the Community Award; and
• George H. Frost (B.S., ’56), winner of the Service to the University Award.

At the 1 p.m. commencement ceremony, James C. “Jim” Free, president and CEO of The Smith-Free Group, will be the featured speaker.
