Intro Engineering, Aerospace Courses Offered
at Middle Tennessee Education Center in Shelbyville
(MURFREESBORO) — The new Middle Tennessee Education Center is a higher education cooperative effort between Middle Tennessee State University, Motlow State Community College and Bedford County, and is located in the recently renovated Medical Arts Center-I building in Shelbyville.
College courses are offered by both institutions to allow students seeking higher educational degrees more convenient opportunities to pursue specific college courses.
Additionally, some courses offered at MTEC support dual enrollment, a program that allows qualified high-school students to take college courses while they simultaneously work on completing their high-school education requirements.
Starting this month, MTSU will be offering two introductory technology courses on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at the Shelbyville site. One course, ET 1840 (introduction to engineering technology), is scheduled to meet from 4:15 until 5:40 p.m; the other course, Aero 1010 (introduction to aerospace sciences), is schedule to meet from 3 until 4:25 p.m.
Both courses are gateway courses to MTSU’s nationally accredited programs in engineering technology and in aerospace technology and aviation, university officials said. As such, successful completion of either course contributes to the applicable curricular programs at MTSU, or may be used for credit transfer to applicable program at another higher educational institution.
For additional information on registration procedures, cost and application deadlines, please call Molly Culbreath at 615-898-2179 or 931-685-4444 at MTEC on Monday or Wednesday, or e-mail: mculbrea@mtsu.edu. Culbreath is coordinator of the adult degree completion program in the College of Continuing Education and Distance Learning.
Detailed MTSU Program information can be from the Department of Engineering Technology by calling 615-898-2776 or the Department of Aerospace at 615-898-2788.
